ON Wheels - From Sole to Roll
ON Wheels is a concept vehicle developed as a collaborative project between ON Running, Gravity Sketch, and ZHdK. The design process utilized Gravity Sketch, a virtual reality software for three-dimensional sketching and modeling.
The vehicle was engineered to grant people with mobility impairments access to challenging terrains. It features innovative wheels with a tubular structure filled with a non-Newtonian fluid. At low speeds, these wheels adapt flexibly to the ground to overcome obstacles. At higher speeds, the fluid hardens upon impact, providing increased stability and speed.
Another core element is the inflatable seat, which prevents pressure points and ensures an optimal fit. This detail maximizes comfort and minimizes health risks during prolonged use. The concept offers a sophisticated solution to enhance mobility and expand access to outdoor activities.
